Our organisation places a strong emphasis on knowledge exchange and networking, recognising the invaluable contributions that our associates offer through their international perspectives and expertise. By becoming an associate, you’ll have the opportunity to actively participate in global initiatives and receive support from both our organisation and our network of associates for your own initiatives. In essence, being an associate means representing the values and mission of Equality in Tourism, while enjoying the mutual support and benefits of our network. Benefits of being an Associate

Becoming an associate is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about gender equality and who want to make a difference in their communities.

By joining this global movement, associates have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals from all corners of the world, forming lasting relationships and collaborating on important research and initiatives. Being an associate also means having access to a platform where their work can be published and shared with a wider audience. Associates are given the opportunity to access valuable research and information from across the globe, providing them with a unique perspective on gender issues and their impact on communities.

Ultimately, being an associate is about contributing to the important debate around gender equality and fair tourism and making a real impact on women’s lives worldwide.

Criteria for becoming an associate

  • International perspectives and experience around the issues of gender equality in the tourism industry
  • Commitment to the promotion of socially progressive, inclusive and sustainable policies in tourism and wider development initiatives
  • Practical and/or theoretical experience of working with women on tourism/ development/ human rights/ anti-poverty projects
  • Academics, activists, industry workers and equality and diversity experts are all welcome.
  • Willingness to share and participate in project opportunities and knowledge exchange.

What we expect from our associates

  • Initiate conversation: engage with our network through social media or via email, and help shape the debate around women in tourism. 
  • Share your knowledge: a network needs engaged members who are willing to share their experiences, stories, or research with the community. We kindly request each associate to contribute to our website with at least one blog post a year. Or, to share a story with us that we can feature in our newsletter. This can link to an organisation’s work or own research (published or un-published, or ongoing).*
  • Associates may be asked to represent the charity on Equality in Tourism funded projects in a consultancy capacity if they are able to do so.
  • Associates who wish to represent Equality in Tourism or use the charity’s logo should do so only with prior approval.
