Are you an academic, policymaker or practitioner interested in the overlooked intersections of gender, tourism and climate change (GenToCC)?
The University of Westminster has an exciting opportunity for you to join its panel at the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA) 2025, taking place 16th to 18th June in Rimini, Italy.
Tourism both contributes to and is highly vulnerable to climate change, with profound gendered implications. However, research and policy discussions often fail to address these interconnections holistically.
This panel aims to bridge the gap and build stronger dialogue on gender, tourism and climate change adaptation by bringing together experts working on:
- Gender and climate change (G+CC);
- Tourism and climate change (T+CC);
- Gender, tourism, and climate change (GenToCC) as a distinct research and policy agenda;
- The future of climate-resilient, gender-responsive tourism in Europe and beyond.

Why Join the Gender, Tourism and Climate Change Panel at ECCA?
- Engage in critical discussions on how gendered inequalities shape climate change adaptation in tourism.
- Showcase best practices and innovative approaches in G+CC, T+CC, or their intersection.
- Network and collaborate with scholars, policymakers, and stakeholders interested in developing a gender-responsive approach to tourism sustainability.
- Explore funding opportunities, including matchmaking for an upcoming Horizon Europe call on climate change.
If you are interested in participating, please get in touch with Dr Stroma Cole at s.cole1@westminster.ac.uk by 4th April, outlining your proposed contribution in a short paragraph.
