Learn about our role in this 3.5-year Horizon Europe tourism and hospitality research project.
Digital transformations are bringing unprecedented change and deepening inequalities in the tourism and hospitality sector. With platform work and algorithmic management a new norm, strengthening the rights and wellbeing of workers – especially marginalised groups such as women, migrants and young people – is more important than ever.
FUTOURWORK is dedicated to investigating these issues and promoting fairer, more inclusive practices and dialogue among employers, unions and governments. The project will produce empowering solutions that benefit workers and businesses alike, including accessible legal manuals and an industry wellbeing index and benchmarking tool.
The project’s legacy will be enhanced social justice and healthier workplaces across the sector in the EU.
Equality in Tourism is leading the Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication (DEC) work package for FUTOURWORK. It’s our responsibility to ensure the project’s research and tools reach the right stakeholders – namely researchers, policymakers, trade unions, employers, platform firms and workers.
Here’s what the three key strands of the work package refer to:
With our experience in advocacy, gender equality, tourism development and making academic research accessible, we are a natural fit for developing and executing the DEC strategy.
The FUTOURWORK team is a collective of researchers and advocates from nine institutions across six countries: Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Sweden and the UK. We’re proud to collaborate with our partners:
