Equality in Tourism is delighted to welcome four new associates to the network – Dr Marina Novelli, Dr Diana Shakti Maya Luck, Iaia Pedemonte and Dr Freya Higgins-Desbiolles.

Dr Novelli is a Reader at the Centre for Tourism Policy Studies (CENTOPS) in the School of Sport and Service Management at the University of Brighton in England. She has considerable research experience in the field of international tourism planning and development, rural diversification, sustainable tourism development, niche tourism, capacity building and community-based tourism approaches in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Asia.

Dr Shakti Maya Luck is a consultant, author and researcher in Relationship Management and Social Responsibility who has worked in many different industries. She’s also the author of three books on assessing the marketing environment and has contributed to several others as well as publishing widely in academic journals.

Iaia Pedemonte is a freelance journalist and the founder of www.genderresponsibletourism.org and the Gender Responsible Tourism Association, a team of communication, responsible tourism and gender experts promoting women’s empowerment in tourism.

Dr Higgins-Desbiolles is a specialist in international relations and its intersections with tourism, based at the University of South Australia’s School of Management. She has worked on community tourism projects in Indigenous Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East. Gender dynamics in community contexts is integral to all her work.
